Here’s a wonderfully simple room-selection rule: all 173 villas have their own private pool. The only difficult decision is whether you want yours hidden beside the beach, overlooking the lagoon or suspended above the Indian Ocean. Dhigurah itself is unusually large and lush by Maldives standards, with thousands of coconut palms, a three-kilometre house reef, Spa by Clarins and restaurants ranging from Mediterranean tapas to contemporary Cantonese cuisine. Families get a kids’ club and two-bedroom villas, while couples can disappear into the quieter corners. There’s even a one-kilometre bridge to its sister island next door.
