POD is exactly how we like our Camps Bay hotels: small, stylish and close enough to walk to the beach, restaurants and sunset cocktails without touching the car. There are only 17 rooms, plus a heated sea-facing pool, cocktail bar and 24-hour gym. Our pick would be one of the three Terrace Pool Rooms – each has a large patio and its own private plunge pool, with Twelve Apostles views and a glimpse of the ocean. The complimentary minibar is a nice touch too. Spend the morning exploring Cape Town, then make it back before sunset; Camps Bay is at its very best when the mountain turns gold.
