About

Johari Beach is the one we’d choose for a quieter, more independent version of Zanzibar. There are only 23 oceanfront villas and suites, stretched along the shore at Kizimkazi on the island’s peaceful south coast. The two-bedroom villas are especially good for families or friends, with kitchens, shaded gardens, sea-view terraces and private plunge pools. There’s also a beachfront pool, gym and Salt & Shore restaurant, while dolphin trips, snorkeling, diving and excursions can all be arranged. One unusual detail: the resort doesn’t serve alcohol. We’d happily trade the giant all-inclusive buffet for fresh fish, an empty stretch of beach and our own pool here.
