Nautilux is a great example of why a private-pool holiday doesn’t have to mean hiding away in the countryside. This modern five-star hotel sits directly beside Rethymno Beach, with the old town waiting further along the coast. We’d make a beeline for the Junior Suite with its heated private pool, although there’s also a Superior Room with a smaller heated plunge pool. The resort adds outdoor pools, a wellness centre, gym and several places to eat and drink, from Petra à la carte to the beachside Nautica bar. You can even order a floating breakfast to your own pool. Slightly ridiculous? Yes... Would we do it again? Absolutely.
