Unique Blue is built for the classic “fly in, flop down, forget what day it is” holiday. This adults-only resort sits directly beside Amnisos Beach near Heraklion, with a large pool, spa, gym and plenty of space by the sea. The standard swim-up rooms use a shared pool, so for the real private-pool experience we’d look at the striking Cicada Villas, which add a private pool, indoor Jacuzzi and even their own gym. It’s particularly good for couples who want beach-resort laziness without being miles from Heraklion – although once settled in, leaving for sightseeing may require considerable willpower.
