Since there are so many to choose from it's hard to say - but since the Limestone hotel opened in 2018 we must say we have a new favourite. It's an absolutely beautiful property in Fira, with outstanding rooms that are carved right into the mountain. And the result is striking! The 2 levels of living space include a private roof deck and another separate spa-like room with its own plunge pool! As you can imagine, the sunset views from here are nothing short of breathtaking. It's like made for a honeymoon. Another great advantage is that the suites aren't overlooked either, which is the case for many other hotels on the island. Oia is gorgeous, but sharing it with thousands of sunset hunters isn’t always quite as romantic as the photos suggest. Katharos Villas offers a clever escape: six detached Cycladic villas set just outside the centre, each with its own heated private swimming pool, veranda and fully equipped kitchen. You can walk into Oia when you want restaurants, shops and blue domes, then retreat home when the lanes become crowded. This boutique gem is unlike anything we’ve experienced — luxurious adults-only suites carved right into the volcanic cliffs of Imerovigli. Our cave room was pure magic, with soft curves, atmospheric lighting, and an indulgent private pool that seemed to spill into the Caldera below. It was almost too good to be true. Waking up to a panoramic sunrise view from our terrace, followed by a gourmet breakfast delivered straight to our suite, was the perfect start to each day.
